To Municipal and county council elections 2019 : Election day and implementation

Election day

The election day in 2019 is 9. September.

On the election day, 9 September (and 8 September in municipalities where 2-day elections are being held), you must vote in the municipality where you are included in the electoral roll. You are included in the electoral roll of the municipality in which you are entered in the Civil Register as resident as at 30 June 2019.

The municipality will announce where your polling station is and how long it is open. Note, however, that you may vote in any polling station in the municipality. It will also be possible to find your polling station on valglokaler.no when this is updated during the summer 2019.

Take your identification with you!

Your voting card is not essential, but it makes the work of the polling officials easier if you take it with you, and it also makes voting quicker.

Have you moved after 30 June?

If you have moved after 30 June, you are included in the electoral roll of the municipality you have moved from, even if you have reported the move. You are included in the electoral roll of the municipality in which you are entered in the Civil Register as resident as at 30 June 2019.

You have the right to vote and cast your vote in the municipality in which you appear on the electoral roll. If you do not have the opportunity to vote there on the election day, you may vote in advance in the municipality in which you are staying. The vote is then sent to your home municipality.
